This prompt and task are representative of how the Major Governance works. It introduces you to ideas about people’s behavior in groups and about social structures, contrasts different understandings of behaviour and norms, asks you to apply concepts to make sense of social reality and assesses your understanding by asking interpretive questions.
This example is limited, however.
First, the Major will heavily rely on your independent work. You will read, think and write a lot.
Second, you will often work not alone, but in a group or a pair.
Third, you will rarely have to complete quizzes and will rather do written assignments and sometimes presentations.
Fourth, you will often need to find examples yourself and will thus construct your own intellectual profile by choosing courses and topics for assignments over four years.
