For students from EU countries

Please remember: A very good level of German language proficiency is often an important prerequisite for a German scholarship! Do you still have questions? Or would you like to discuss your application documents or prepare for a selection interview? Please feel free to arrange a scholarship advising appointment!

For students from non-EU countries

As mentioned before, especially for students from non-EU countries, the opportunities for a scholarship in Germany and therefore also for our advising are limited. We recommend seeking advice in your home country or searching the scholarship database of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

You will usually receive an appointment within three weeks. If deadlines are approaching, it is a good idea to arrange an appointment in good time.

Please indicate the following when making an appointment:

  • Orientation advising (please bring your completed profile sheet, see “My profile“)
  • Application documents check (please bring the relevant documents with you and state the application deadline, if applicable)
  • Preparation for the selection interview (as soon as you have received an invitation from a foundation/scholarship provider), please also state the date of the interview.

The scholarship advising service of the Central Academic Advising Office in the Student Service Center is open to all prospective students and students of the University of Freiburg who are looking for a scholarship for their studies at the University of Freiburg.

Scholarships for stays abroad (Outgoings)

Some of the full scholarships also support stays abroad as part of the degree programme. Irrespective of this, there are also other options for receiving financial support for one or two semesters abroad (or also for shorter stays abroad such as research stays, teaching or internships abroad).
You can find an overview in the guideline for going abroad or during a personal advising appointment.
