Not all scholarships are suitable for all applicants. To avoid spending a lot of time on an application that is rejected for formal reasons, it is a good idea to consider in advance whether you actually belong to the sponsor’s target group.

- Which nationalities may apply?
- EU citizens
- Foreign nationals with a German education (so-called Bildungsinländer, i.e. non-Germans with a German university entrance qualification other than Studienkolleg/preparatory college)
- Non-EU citizens
- Certain priority countries
